Luke Tate, a Sunderland College TASS student-athlete, has won the Yorkshire PGA Pro-Am Championship in Dubai.
Competing against players from all over the world, Luke and his teammates successfully defended their title across three days on some of Dubai’s top golf courses, such as Dubai Hills, Jumeirah Earth, and the Montgomerie.
Despite suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury, he is on course to achieve his Diploma in Sport, combining his studies alongside his promising career in golf.
Carl Jones, Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme Dual-Career Coordinator, said:
“We are all very proud of Luke’s recent success in Dubai.
“We have worked with Luke for the past few months on the programme and look forward to continuing to support his development over the next academic year.”
Luke added:
“I would like to thank Ryan Ingram, my golf coach at George Washington Golf Club, for the initial invitation and the experience. I would also like to thank the team for the experience and making it a special moment in my career.
“I look forward to seeing what lies ahead of me in the future and continuing to strike the balance between the academic and technical pathway that I am currently on in my dual-career as a TASS athlete of Sunderland College.”
