Student update - Returning to Campus and Building Work at Bede Campus

When you return back to College, Bede Campus will look a little different due to building work taking place to transform floor 2 within our Bede Building.

Building work has started to transform Bede Hall and surrounding classrooms to create a Digital Innovation Hub. It is appreciated this may cause some disruption to life on campus but it is to create excellent learning, digital and immersive opportunities for our students (and wider city) from September 2021, particularly important with the introduction of T Levels. The College will be working closely with the building company to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum with a phased approach to the building.

Work will start from the main Bede entrance and reception area, Bede Hall, careers room, counselling room and along the digital and business corridor/classrooms. Any Digital and/or Business students with classes timetabled within Bede Building rooms 206, 207, 208 or 209 will be contacted before they return to campus by their curriculum staff regarding the changes to their timetable and classrooms.

On the first day back, 10 minutes before the start of your first lesson the Digital and/or Business students who have already been contacted by staff are to meet outside the Arts Academy. Staff will be available to help from there.

Below shows where key areas have been relocated.

  • Bede Reception and Student Services has been relocated to the bottom Car Park
  • Careers Service has been relocated to Learning Centre
  • Counselling service has been relocated to Barnes Building

There will be no access to the Bede Building from the main front reception door. Access to the Bede Building will now be through the ground floor entrances to the side of the building. The lift within the Bede Building will remain in operation for appropriate use.

On occasion there will be additional delivery / heavy vehicles on campus. All must take extra care when walking round the campus.

If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to speak to your Faculty Director or Curriculum Manager in the first instance.
