Sunderland College is continuing to help increase physical activity in schools by welcoming the latest PEAK Sports apprentices for their induction training.
PEAK (Physical Education and Active Kids), a leading provider of PE services and delivery to primary schools across the UK, has worked with the college for the past five years to offer more than 50 high-quality apprenticeships.
The apprentices work full-time for four days a week in schools throughout the region to gain work skills, while also studying one day at Bede Campus, using the college’s state-of-the-art sports and teaching facilities.
Peter Robertson, business development manager, said: “We have built up a great relationship with PEAK and are delighted to be enrolling the latest apprentices.
“Over the past five years we have had 56 apprentices placed with PEAK and we wish the latest cohort the very best of luck.”
PEAK has used the apprenticeship programme to expand their business, develop new talent, and create opportunities for sustained employment for young people, with more than half of apprentices securing full-time jobs within the schools they train in or progressing to permanent employment with the specialist company.
Employers can receive up to £3,000 for each new apprentice they hire aged under 25, between August 2020 and January 2021.
