Art and design students at Sunderland College have been showing off their creativity to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020.
Jemma Riddle, Mia Hooper, Naomi Flewers, Abby Doran and Millie Farman were tasked by Student President Zainab Nadeem to design a banner for an International Women’s Day event on Monday 9th March which will include talks from guest speakers such as Newcastle Falcons and England international rugby player Orla McCallion as well as dance performances and other activities.
The group featured inspirational females who have impacted our lives throughout history, such as Florence Nightingale, Marie Curie, Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Jill Scott in their design, which will be displayed in Bede Campus’s main reception area.
Praising the student’s hard work, Zaynab, said:
“Jemma, Mia, Naomi, Abby and Millie did a fantastic job, the banner is amazing. This is the second time I have asked the group to assist with a project and they should be very proud of their efforts.”
Lorna Hurt, Progress and Development Tutor, added:
“I was extremely proud of the finished banner which demonstrates how hard the group worked. The discussions and concepts the project initiated around International Women’s Day highlighted just how knowledgeable our young people are.”
Sunderland College’s Arts Academy theatre is to be renamed as part of an ambitious rebrand and launch of a new production company.
