Health and Social Care students have recently been involved in a Christmas activity where they bought gifts, wrapped them up and delivered them to elderly service users in Croft House Care Home.
The activity helped to develop the work readiness skills of the students, many of which have ambitions to work in the care sector, meaning it gave them a chance to interact with the residents of Croft House and bring some Christmas cheer to the care home.
Whilst visiting Croft House, the students had the chance to observe the environment of the care home and see first-hand how the industry works in real life. Many of the students found this very uplifting and are looking forward to taking part in the project again next year.
Andrea Sheriff and Stefan Garroway, Lecturers in Health and Social Care said:
“The students were really interested and engaged with the activity very well. They all looked forward to going down and meeting the residents. This has further developed their skills and interest in the industry. They would like to do it again next year.”
Ragen Dixon, Health and Social Care student added:
“It was so nice to be able to give something back at this time of year and it made me smile we were able to do this. Everyone enjoyed the activity and I am looking forward to taking part again next year.”
