Sunderland College students at City Bistro have recently been involved in hosting a Seafood Evening, inviting members of the public to enjoy an evening of fizz and fine dining.
For £25.00 per head, diners were able to enjoy a three course menu including some popular favourites such as Chilli salt squid, a seafood platter and lemon tart all washed down with a glass of fizz.
The evening was a great success, much to the delight of students, staff and guests. One party, who have been previous visitor to the restaurant gave some great feedback:
“Another beautiful visit to City Bistro tonight for the Seafood special and it was once again outstanding. £25 per head and well worth it. There was a good crowd in there which was lovely to see.”
The Bistro was buzzing and allowed students to gain first-hand experience in a busy service in a restaurant. They worked in both front and back of house, developing their skills in preparation and set-up, cooking, serving and clean down.
Rob Stewart, Curriculum Lead in Hospitality, Tourism and Engagement at Sunderland College said:
“It’s was great to see City Bistro so busy; it’s events like these that really set our students apart in the skillset that they develop in the restaurant. As the term progresses and the students gain confidence and experience, we hope to roll out further events to ensure as many students as possible are involved throughout the academic year.”
Bailey Green, Level One Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery student said:
“I really enjoyed tonight. I’ve only recently joined Sunderland College and to have the opportunity to take part in the Seafood evening was amazing. I hope have the chance to do more events this year and to learn as much as I can!”
