Sunderland College student and TASS athlete Charlotte Weatherby, has recently competed in the Senior Nationals for Table Tennis where the top 32 in the country of any age competed for the National Title.
Charlotte had to qualify in order to enter the competition in Nottingham and managed to get a position competing in the singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles competitions.
Although unsuccessful in attaining the title, Charlotte had an outstanding experience competing against the best in the country and she is currently 19th in her own ranking.
Carl Jones Sunderland College TASS Dual Career Academic Co-ordinator said:
“Charlotte is an excellent student athlete who is part of the TASS project at our college. She is a very hard working A-Level student who copes admirably with her studious approach and sporting demands. She is currently awaiting a positive grade mark in her RQF Sport work and is progressing well with respective B grades in Psychology and C grades in Biology so far. It is anticipated Charlotte will continue to succeed due to her attitude towards all elements of her study programme.”
Charlotte Weatherby Sunderland College A-Level student and TASS athlete added:
“I had the most outstanding experience in Nottingham competing against the best Table Tennis athletes in the country in a variety of competitions. Being able to compete against some Olympic athletes and observing their preparation, speaking to them about their own experiences to date and seeing how they have living opportunities abroad has really provided me with the tools to continue to strive for success in my sport.
I am currently 19th in ranking and aspire to do the best that I possibly can. I would like to thank MN Elite Performance at Sunderland College for the Strength and Conditioning and preparation and also Ormesby Table Tennis Club for their coaching. I look forward to build on this experience ahead of the Junior Nationals in May.”
The college wishes Charlotte the best of luck at her next event, the Junior Nationals on the 11th and 12th May where the top 32 under 18’s will compete.
