Extra curriculum opportunities
Two students from Sunderland College competed in the prestigious Sparks UK Electrical Apprentice of the Year competition.
Electrical apprentices, Ryan Dodds and Adien Fucile, pitched their skills against apprentices from six other colleges, from Hull to Newcastle, in the Northern heat of the Sparks competition.
Although Ryan and Adien did not reach the national final, they performance extremely well and completed the tasks to a very high standard.
Steven Vint, Electrical Lecturer at Sunderland College, said:
“I was very proud of our two apprentices. Not only did they represent the electrical section, they also were ambassadors for the College and their companies.”
Ryan Dodds, who is studying Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical, said:
“I really enjoyed the day and was disappointed I did not win.”
Adien Fucile, who is also studying Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical, said:
“It was a lot of pressure but I gained a lot of experience from this event.”
